Baby G Ambassador Storms to Number One

Baby G Ambassador Storms to Number One

The official charts company has announced that the new face of Baby G, Eighteen-year-old Pixie Lott, has landed a historic first as her debut single Mama Do storms straight to number one in the official charts.

It is the first time in UK chart history that a debut single from a solo female British artist has made its chart debut at number one, without coming through the reality TV route.

Pixie Lott trained at the Italia Conti stage school (where she was awarded a rare scholarship), clocked up West End appearances in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and recorded with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters.

But her record-breaking journey took off at the age of 14 when the schoolgirl from Essex answered an ad in The Stage 'seeking the next pop diva'. Two years later she had herself a management deal with US-based DAS Communications (Black Eyed Peas, Fergie). Next, after a worldwide bidding war, she had her record deal (with Mercury in the UK and Interscope in the US).

Tim Gould, Head of Marketing for Casio UK, commented: 'We are so proud that Pixie is the new face of Casio's iconic range of Baby G and G-Ms watches. Her record breaking chart domination illustrates just how talented and determined she is. This along with her elegant sense of style makes her the perfect ambassador for the toughest yet prettiest watches around.'
